3D Floral - Applique and quilting In-The-Hoop!

This class location will be at our Blue Lake Camp in Andalusia, AL. All participants must register for both the camp and classes.

Supplies and Tools Needed:
3D Mini or Maxi Collection by Sarah Vedeler (note: Maxi will not finish in 4-day class)
Embroidery & Sewing Machine with minimum hoop of 150x260 per pdf instructions from download
Embroidery Machine in good working order that you know how to operate. There is sewing with this project. Bring everything to convert your machine from embroidery to 1/4-inch patchwork stitching.
Double-Curve Hoop scissors for snipping and trimming
Mini Iron--NOT the Oliso iron, this pulls too much power and will trip breakers
Grippy Grid Mat (optional but helpful)
Fabric in colors of choice and yardage as per pdf in download
Basic machine maintenance kit: cleaning brush, tweezers, screwdriver, oil.
Fabric Markers
Bobbins and bobbin thread (60wt)
2 Full rolls of Ultra Clean & Tear Stabilizer
Double curved embroidery scissors.
Extra machine needles
Extra bobbin
Roxanne Glue baste with long, slender metal tip
Wool pressing mat for lining up embroideries (I used a 12x17 inch mat)
Basic sewing supplies: Rotary Cutter, Quilter's Ruler (6"x12"), scissors, snips, seam ripper, tear-away tape, pins, Wonder Clips, Stiletto or Purple Thang.
Prep required prior to camp: Appliques pre-cut prior to class. We can set-up a class for digital cutters prior to the event if there's interest. Fabric ironed, prepped and marked as per pdf instructions.
Skill Level: | Intermediate |
Skill Details: | A beginner class will be taught from a first-time perspective. Intermediate and advanced courses require previous experience with sewing, quilting, and embroidery. These skill levels should be considered when you are registering for a course in consideration of the other attendees who will have expectations of the named skill level and would not require the instructor to teach basic skills during an advanced course or go faster/skip instruction during a beginner course. All attendees are responsible for bringing a sewing machine in good working order and knowing how to operate it. Instruction focuses on cutting (when noted), sewing techniques, and assembly of the project. |
Materials Included: | Ironing and cutting stations will be provided. Use of personal irons is limited due to availability of power outlets. |

Instructor Bio: | April Jaehn is a vibrant quilting enthusiast and traveling educator known for her infectious passion and dedication. She discovered quilting while living in Hungary, overcoming language barriers with YouTube tutorials. In 2017, she found her true calling at Stitcher’s Quest, immersing herself in the quilting community. By 2021, her expertise led her to become a traveling educator with OESD, a renowned machine embroidery house. This role combines her passions for machine embroidery, nurturing customer confidence, and traveling. April's artistic style is characterized by rich, saturated colors and bold designs. When she's not creating, she's brainstorming new ideas and engaging in lively quilting conversations. |
