Skill Level: Intermediate
Skill Details: A beginner class will be taught from a first-time perspective. Intermediate and advanced courses require previous experience with sewing, quilting, and embroidery. These skill levels should be considered when you are registering for a course in consideration of the other attendees who will have expectations of the named skill level and would not require the instructor to teach basic skills during an advanced course or go faster/skip instruction during a beginner course. All attendees are responsible for bringing a sewing machine in good working order and knowing how to operate it. Instruction focuses on cutting (when noted), sewing techniques, and assembly of the project.
Materials Included: Ironing and cutting stations will be provided. Use of personal irons is limited due to availability of power outlets.
Requirements: Kit Fee of $6 for Foundation Papers payable to Kaye at time of class.
Instructor: Kaye Joachim
Instructor Bio: Kaye Joachim was born in a small town in Ohio. She and her husband, Larry, retired to Destin in 2014, have been married for 50 years, and have 4 grandchildren. Kaye has been a member of Flying Needles Quilt Guild since April 2015, and jumped right in as the Community Service chair for 2 years. She has been 1st & 2nd Vice President, and has been a Retreat chair for 3 retreats! She has been our Webmaster for our website since 2023, and has been in charge of the recent Round Robins and Row by Row programs. Kaye has taught numerous classes to our guild. She also has taught to other guilds in the area and at the 2019 retreat. Her favorite block is the Economy Block (square in a square) because it can be used in so many ways, especially the Storm at Sea pattern, another of her favorites
