Skill Level: Intermediate
Skill Details: A beginner class will be taught from a first-time perspective. Intermediate and advanced courses require previous experience with sewing, quilting, and embroidery. These skill levels should be considered when you are registering for a course in consideration of the other attendees who will have expectations of the named skill level and would not require the instructor to teach basic skills during an advanced course or go faster/skip instruction during a beginner course. All attendees are responsible for bringing a sewing machine in good working order and knowing how to operate it. Instruction focuses on cutting (when noted), sewing techniques, and assembly of the project.
Materials Included: Ironing and cutting stations will be provided. Use of personal irons is limited due to availability of power outlets.
Instructor: Tish Cannon
Instructor Bio: Tish Cannon's mother taught her how to sew. At the age of seven, her mother began Tish's sewing journey on a Singer treadle machine. She made all her own clothes in high school, including a winter coat. She and her mother made two years of flag twirler uniforms. (FYI, the band and the flags marched in the Rose Parade.) Tish's first employment was making alterations in a bridal shop. After marrying the love of her life, her husband purchased a sewing machine for her. The machine and cabinet were $59.99. She made a suit for her husband and entered it in the local county fair. Tish earned a teaching credential in Home Economics (Interior Design, Sewing, Cooking, Child Care, and Economics) and a degree in Computer Programing. Her husband surprised her with a Bernina 1230, and, yes, a cabinet. Shortly after her first Bernina, quilting became very popular. Tish's first quilting class was with Eleanor Burns. The rest is history!!
