Tamarack Jacket

We're getting crafty with the Tamarak Jacket!  Bring an orphan quilt block or unfinished quilt top that you'd like to incorporate into a one-of-a-kind quilted jacket!

This is a fun between seasons jacket, simple design that allows you to maximize your creativity! Easy to incorporate orphan blocks, stash fabrics or unused quilt tops for the outer layer. If you look at the sample the sleeves were collaged using scraps of fabric, the jacket body was single cuts from yardage. Many options for you. The sample used log cabin blocks then cut to explode out fabric cuts for color in background fabric.

Bring to class:
Sewing machine, feet for straight and design stitches and quilting foot, straight pins, 505 spray, coordinating thread for top and liner.
Tamarack Jacket Pattern in your size- traced onto pattern ease if desired or cut and pressed
2.5 yds main fabric or 7 fat quarters if mixing background: batiks are easiest to work with for raw edges, if using a quilt top be sure it is large enough to cut out pattern
2.5 yds lining fabric: woven cotton or knit, options can be seen at the shop
5 linear yds binding or 1/2 yd fabric if cutting bias
Can add buttons, snaps or hooks and eyes if desired
We will do this as a 2 layer project-- no batting required
